Mid-Continent University’s ADVANTAGE Brings Additional Associate Degree Group Locally to Fulton

Mid-Continent University’s ADVANTAGE is starting yet another associate degree group locally at the high school in Fulton, Kentucky. Jackie Puckett, Fulton’s Admissions Representative for ADVANTAGE, said, “It has been a wonderful opportunity to work with the local Fulton residents. Mid-Continent’s format works for many adults. With classes one night a week, people are still able to work full-time or look for employment. We are looking forward to having more adults from the Fulton area reaching to achieve their educational goals. This is a great group of folks. I have enjoyed meeting with them and getting to know them. We still have spots available if anyone else is interested in this opportunity to go back to school with other adults.”

Jackie Imhoff, Mid-Continent University’s Vice President for Adult Programs, comments, “We are excited to provide this opportunity for the completion of an associate degree in Fulton. We hope interest will grow enough that we will be able to offer the full four years of college here in Fulton and area residents will be able to complete their full four year bachelor degree. MCU works very hard to remove barriers that adults face in completing their education. The number of adults responding from the Fulton area has been amazing. Mid-Continent expects a record enrollment of over 90 Fulton area residents attending college classes in Fulton. We offer classes in approximately 30 communities and this new class moves Fulton into our top five locations in regards to enrollment. Fulton has been hit economically with companies in the surrounding areas closing. Education remains the best way for a community and individuals to work for a brighter future.”

Adults have challenges with access to education. Bringing classes to the adult’s own community that meet just one night a week makes the goal of achieving one's degree much more feasible for area residents. When adults learn that classes are this convenient and their associate’s degree can be accomplished in two years, their hope for a college education is revived. This opens a pathway to success that may not have been available previously. Sometimes adults worry that their schedule could change or they could find a job in another part of the country. If this happens, Mid-Continent also offers the associate and bachelor degrees ONLINE. There is no circumstance that can keep someone from successfully completing their degree if he/she is willing to work at it.
